About This Show

Fredrick Byers Productions presents The Tell-Tale Heart – a musicabre featuring text by Edgar Allan Poe, with adaptation and music by Danny Ashkenasi. David L. Carson directs this new musical version of Poe’s classic horror story as part of the 10th annual New York International Fringe Festival.

The Tell-Tale Heart – a musicabre tells the story of a man driven insane by the relentless heartbeat of his murder victim. Ashkenasi’s musical version stays close to Poe’s original with only minor changes to the text. The piece is performed by the story’s narrator/protagonist, who alternates between singing and speech. Accompaniment is provided by three cellos, which musically depict the beating of the tell-tale heart.
