About This Show

A workplace comedy, The Sustainable Future tells the story of a green architecture firm that is hired to design the U.S. embassy in Iraq. It should be a great honor, but when the office ceiling is leaking, the profits from a project in China can’t be converted, and the staff hasn’t been paid in weeks, opportunity turns quickly to quagmire. Harrison Henderson and Wilhelm Kloch, senior partners, try to keep it all afloat. Everything stands between them and success, from Harrison’s bitter ex-wife to the firm’s employees. The war on terror only compounds matters for the ditzy intern Yoosha, Barry, the aggressive young turk with fertility and patriotism on his mind, and Benji, the gay realist who would lose his mind if it wasn’t for Lola, the sarcastic office manager and the only one who really keeps things together. But what happens when the war in Iraq brings turmoil and instability home to Brooklyn?

The Sustainable Future also runs at Bowery Poetry Club.
