The Interlude is a new play by Kim Ima and Cheap & Sneaky Theatricals. In 1943, Japanese Americans at the Minidoka internment camp made a yearbook and called it “The Minidoka Interlude.” They dedicated it to the America of Tomorrow. It was a dark moment in our recent past. Today, some people don’t want to remember. Some people never knew. But whether silenced or spoken, memories collide with the present and reach out to the future. Inspired by her father’s yearbook, Kim Ima’s piece uses movement, music, photography and video imagery to weave the past through the present in a celebration of humor, heart and spirit.
