As blustery winter winds rattle your window panes, come and enjoy performance and creativity especially for young people and families at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange. The Groundhog Series for Family Audiences features Cuban music and dance, juggling, slapstick and magic tricks, and folksy children’s pop music with a cowgirl twist.

Cubanana: Melodías y Danzas de Cuba: The Groundhog Series for Family Audiences presents Cubanana, a musical duo that specializes in a varied repertoire of Cuban, American, and Latin American folk music. Carrie Lavender and Jesús Alvarez Bulte, husband and wife, are dynamic folkloric performers. Fans comment that their voices and styles are a perfect match and that they put a lot of love in their music.

Sunday, February 12 at 2pm

The Three of Clubs: Juggling, Rivalry and Silliness: Directed by Gila Sand and comprised of Joe Willens, Dan McMahon and Julien Rossant, this new “circus play” is replete with juggling, classic slapstick, unicycling, hat tricks, escapism and stage magic.

Suzi Shelton: She performs songs from her latest children’s CD Simply Suzi for children 10 years and under. Formerly a member of both the Imagination Workshop Band, and Brooklyn’s children’s band, Gillygaloo, Suzi is a singer and songwriter who uses her musical talents to get the whole family up and dancing. Accompanied by singer and guitarist Beau Edmondson, Suzi will sing an eclectic mix of folksy children’s pop music with a cowgirl twist.
