New York City
A gothic parlor spectacle, which tells – in multiple iterations – the familiar tale of a poor shepherdess seduced and abandoned by a would-be inventor. Conjuring the intimacy of a séance and the wild abandon of a hootenanny, the show is equal parts pastoral ballet, backwoods jamboree, Punch-and-Judy and forlorn testimony as well as an exposé of how the rural poor lives while celebrating their handicrafts.
