The Friar and The Nurse
Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre at The Players Theatre, Off-Off-Broadway
$15.00
The Friar and The Nurse is about the two well-known characters from Romeo and Juliet. The show opens ten years before the action of Shakespeare’s play, and Romeo’s Friar and Juliet’s Nurse have a chance encounter at confession. Though hidden from each other by the confessional screen, the meeting touches both of them deeply and memorably. Ten years later, they meet again — thinking it to be for the first time — and create a tentative alliance to help Romeo and Juliet in their illicit romance. As they plot inside the stark walls of the Friar’s church-basement room, they grow closer, and eventually find themselves falling into a passionate romance of their own.
Epic Arts Repertory Theatre presents this play by Stan Peal, featuring Epic Arts co-founders (and husband and wife team) Laura Depta and Stan Peal in the title roles. Lon Bumgarner directs.
