About This Show

first function presents The Fall, as part of Movement Theatre offerings at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival. This 70 minute duet re-imagines Milton’s Paradise Lost as a dark visual poem told by two hobo clowns. Directed and choreographed by deeAnn Nelson and Mathew Sandoval.

Autumn is crashing violently all around. The world is changing, getting colder, falling apart. Aidan & Dawn, two clownish vagabonds trapped in the heaviness of this environment, do everything they can to resist the same fate. Using the combination of dance, visual theatre, and music, this comedic & darkly atmospheric duet tells the story of these two broken drifters as they struggle to understand both their significance & the weight of their actions. Giving in to gravity has never been more difficult, more courageous, more poetic.
