About This Show

Actor/Playwright Wallace Shawn, considered to be one of the most creative and confrontational American playwrights of our time, presents a staging of his acclaimed drama, The Designated Mourner. Told through a series of monologues, this dystopian fable set in the vague future, traces the actions of Jack, a grating, infuriating member of the elite. Jack recounts how every intellectual who read John Donne was executed, including his wife Judy and her father Howard. Shawn?s creation of this cruel and mundane world provides overtones of today’s society that are chillingly realistic.
