Originally composed for young performers in Scottsdale, Arizona, where its writer, Gerry Cullity, owned a small community theater, this NYC premiere is directed by his long-time student, Maya Evans, who is a recent graduate of Tisch School of the Arts.
In this enchanting musical, the Butterfly is given just one day to find her life’s purpose & break an evil Gypsy Moth spell that banished all butterflies from nature. An endearing bevy of friends (including spunky katydids & tap-dancing bees) join the Butterfly on her quest which is strangely tied to the human world and one mysterious little girl… Exploring what it means to live purposefully, the Butterfly learns about the beautiful paradox of love: By living a life full of love, and by thinking of others before yourself, you only increase the size of your heart. The more love you give, the more you have. The Butterfly’s Day evokes the youthful spirit of such musicals as Peter Pan, Annie, The Secret Garden, Seussical, and Matilda!
