An ancient woman tells of a blood tale ? a tale of jealousy and murder. Her tale is as dark as the black, bitter brew ? coffee: her solace and her weapon. In telling her tale, she takes us on a whirlwind history of coffee ? from its Ethiopian birthplace through its turbulent history of revolutions and wars.
The Birth of Café Society, written and directed by Iqbal Barkat, and performed by Alejandra Canales, is part of the New York International Fringe Festival.
