About the Show
Take Me Out celebrates the distinctly American sport of baseball through telling the story of five-tool star player Darren Lemming, who casually comes out of the closet to his fans and teammates. Darren deals with the awkward responses from his fellow players with humor and ease, until he is challenged by an openly racist and homophobic closing pitcher, Shane Mungitt. Darren and Shane, both of whom are vital to their team’s World Series run, test the limits of who can play on the same team, and therefore push the boundaries of who is welcome to play baseball and pursue the dream offered by America’s favorite pastime.
