New York City
In this ensemble production, scenes slide along easily through this tale of San Francisco in the nineties. As a family of fiery individuals; a gay pastor, a sculptress, and an ailing anthopologist are united and faced with the concept of how to be a family, the sculptress and her astonomer boyfriend get pregnant. At the same time the astronomer and his collegue make a discovery that could change how we see the universe. Soon, the mysteries of the universe and of human and artistic creation begin to mix for everyone. And how much we know about the universe — and the people closest to us — turns out to be surprisingly little.
