About This Show

In Stray Dog Story, the title character Buddy is magically transformed into a human being when his Fairy Dog Mother overhears Buddy’s master confiding in the pooch about the improbability of finding a perfect mate in New York City. “I wish you were a man sometimes,” the master sighs, “but not like other people”. A wish is made, a wish is granted and general K9-chaos ensues! But can a good man with a dog’s heart survive in the dog-eat-dog city? Written in 1982, Robert Chesley’s play is both brutally shocking and a warmhearted fairy tale, as it follows our wide-eyed hero into the complex world of human nature. Subtitled An Adventure in Ten Scenes, Chesley dares and invites us to take a look at the city through a dog’s eyes.
