The Subterranean Theater Ensemble's world premier presentation of Dave Tianga's' newest play, Straight Chasers, is one part Bourgosian, one part Shamley, and all parts raw. The witty and subtly engaging tale centers on the misconnections and self-destructive behavior of the surly crew at the modern day Brooklyn eatery, Sammy's Bar & Grill. With their dreaded "thirties" approaching, the pressure on the eclectic group of artists to "do something" rapidly mounts, and their eye opening attempts to "numb the pain" will cause you to laugh, as well as cringe, in your seat. Join them as their celebration to commemorate one crew member's achievement, that brings him closer to living the "artists dream", quickly turns into a debaucherous night full of drinking, sex, and grand larceny. In their usual realistically funny form, Tianga and the STE pull no punches when questioning the morality and intentions of modern day young people searching for love and meaning in their lives.
