About the Show

Frank Wedekind’s Spring Awakening is a poetic coming of age tale dealing with the sexual awakening of German adolescents within a repressive society. Director Daniel Talbott focuses this spare production on the exploration of performance and the relationship of actor to audience. Rather than placing emphasis on elevated technical values, the production is approached in a rehearsal project atmosphere with a focus on the roots of performance: action, need, relationship, and discovery. The main task of the ensemble is to rediscover the sexual innocence that exists in a restricted social atmosphere that is so far removed from our current over-sexualized society.
