About This Show

What if Cinderella was Jewish, read Kurt Vonnegut in the eighth grade, had a degree in philosophy, smoked pot from a water bong and carried Botox in her purse? Once upon a time, when women were busting out and celebrating their new freedom to choose, one woman had trouble choosing: between her parents, her diets, her men, her desires, her responsibilities, and her shoes. Andrea Kolb’s solo show Sometimes Over The Summer, (the title comes from her grandmother’s explanation of change) is a non-stop ride that explores the changing roles of women since the time of her grandmother and mother. (Both of these women are recurring characters who seem to sit on opposite shoulders, whispering in Andrea’s ear as she travels through life’s invisible minefields). These contradictions drive our heroine, a self-proclaimed Jewish sex goddess, to the local Barnes and Noble to search for answers. Thanks to a long-suffering therapist, a highly charged spirit and a turtle named Max, she wrote a funny play about it.
