About the Show

Its time for Something Old Something New II. The Immigrants’ Theatre Project presents these two one-acts. Happy Valley, by Aurorae Khoo, explores the personal impact of the Hong Kong hand-over from Britain to China. Set in the summer of 1997, an adolescent girl searches desperately for her identity in a changing Hong Kong. Will she retain the strict, traditional Chinese ways of her mother or embrace her Uncle Chester’s dapper emigre life in London?

Also on the bill is Oana-Maria Cajal’s Waiting for Godot to Leave, which invokes Samuel Beckett’s work but shifts the emphasis on the existential condition of waiting to the psychological condition of coping with it.
