About This Show

Smokey Joe’s Cafe uses the music of Leiber and Stoller, two of the greatest songwriters of the 1950’s, to illuminate a pivotal moment of social change in America. Through songs such as “On Broadway”, “Spanish Harlem” and “Stand By Me”, the musical explores the beginnings of Rock and Roll and the American Civil Rights Movement. This special 45 minute version of this revue was adapted specifically for kids ages 8-15.
