About This Show

SLAMMER!, a new women-in-prison musical, receives its world premiere as part of the 11th annual New York International Fringe Festival. The show features book, music & lyrics by the Austin, Texas writing team of Steve Adams and Chan Chandler. Inspired by the cult genre of women in prison films SLAMMER! is directed by Rod Caspers and choreographed by Ann Presley.

The story goes like this. Tabitha, a sheltered and naïve girl is wrongfully thrown into a women’s prison for a drug deal she DID NOT COMMIT. There she must learn to survive through her wits as she deals with two rival gangs of inmates as well as the evil Warden Eva Danka and Smiley, the predatory prison guard. Discovering her inner strength, Tabitha gains power and stature with the inmates until finally she leads them in revolt.

Oh yes, there will be singing and dancing; before, during and after the revolt.
