About the Show

The Midtown International Theatre Festival presents a Shakespeare Symposium on presenting works of the Bard in nontraditional staging and alternative venues. Participants in the symposium represent the finest of cutting-edge off- and off-off-Broadway companies, who
share their thought-provoking concepts and strategies that have made them successful. There will be also be an audience question-and-answer session.

Participants include:

Jay Michaels and Mary Elizabeth MiCari of the Genesis Repertory Ensemble, OOBR Award recipients for their
production of Julius Caesar, and whose multimedia production of Richard III is a highlight of this year’s Midtown International Theatre Festival.

Dudley Stone of the Deptford Players/Yorkville Rep. who discusses the company’s recent sold-out production of Julius Caesar and plans for the upcoming
fall season.

Roger Hendricks Simon of the Simon Studio, who directed and performs in the current production of Bard at the Bar, a show which is currently garnering raves around town.

Janna Rosenkranz and Rachel Russell, artistic directors of Bottom’s Dream Arts, whose A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night explored the darker elements of Shakespearean comedy to great acclaim.

The Oberon Ensemble, who presented Twelfth Night this past season, as well as a production of
Duerrenmatt’s Cold War dark comedy The Physicists.
