About This Show

The Shakespeare Society presents a 90-minute musical celebration of the American Musical Theater’s adaptation of Shakespeare. Shakespeare on Broadway features Broadway stars Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me, Kate, Passion, Ragtime), Jason Danieley (The Full Monty, Candide, Floyd Collins), Tom Wopat (Glengarry Glen Ross, Annie Get Your Gun, 42nd Street), Richard Kind (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Producers, Tale of the Allergist’s Wife), and Brian D’Arcy James (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Sweet Smell of Success) performing songs from such popular musicals (based on Shakespeare’s plays) as The Boys from Syracuse, Kiss Me Kate and West Side Story.

Tony Award-winning director Jack O’Brien (Hairspray, Henry IV) provides commentary as scenes and speeches from The Comedy of Errors, The Taming of the Shrew, and Romeo and Juliet are paired with the incomparable songs of Rogers and Hart (The Boys from Syracuse), Cole Porter (Kiss Me, Kate), and Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story).
