About This Show

Written by Colin P. Delaney, and directed by Dara DeVito, Scratch’s Last Lament opens in Paris, May 18, 1945, a day better known around the world as V-E Day. Lead by the United States, the Allies have finally routed the Axis Powers, France has been liberated and Berlin taken. After so many terrible years, the war in Europe is finally over and the streets of Paris are thronged with jubilant crowds while American G.I.’s swagger through the city like triumphant victors. Amidst this backdrop, Death and the Devil, Old Scratch himself, meet for dinner along the Rue de Bac. Over a meal consisting of mostly wine and cigarettes, Death and Scratch discuss the war, women, their jobs – all of it leading up to a proposal from Scratch that could change the way both of them perceive the world.
