Daniel Safer directs Roberto Zucco, the controversial French play by Bernard Marie Koltes, which receives its New York premiere from the Empire Theatre Company. The play’s title character is a man made mythic by the brutal acts of murder and rape that he commits. The piece is an unrelenting, unforgiving, allegorical look at the darkest underbelly of our world today. Douglas Wagner provides original music, based on the work done by the actors and director during rehearsals.
