As part of the Second Annual Midtown Annual International Theatre Festival, Eugene Ionesco’s absurdist classic Rhinoceros gets a new staging by the InterArt Group, which relocates this anti-fascist work to present-day New York City and its young urbanites. An argument against idealogy and collective hysteria, this contemporary production univeralizes the play’s central themes of the dangers of conformity and simply going along with the herd mentality. Cosmin Chivu directs.
