About This Show

Water, the new theater company headed by maverick director Shira Piven, presents a return engagement of Pilgrims. The production is comprised of three short stories by New York Times Notable and Paris Review New Discovery Prize-winning author Elizabeth Gilbert. The three stories include:
Tall Folks: A bar owner and her nephew consummate their love after spending an evening at a strip club, which has opened up next door.
The Many Things Denny Brown Did Not Know (age 15): An adolescent boy who feels he does not know anything about the many things that make up his life stumbles into a love affair with the neighborhood bully’s sister.
The last untitled piece is a touch of what Gilbert calls “American Magic Realism,” a former beauty named Rose drives her kindergarten school bus route and winds up with a busload of adoring men, all her ex-lovers.
