Columbia University opens its Theatre of the Riverside Church with Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, directed by Andrei Serban. Based in part on Norwegian folk traditions, the story follows the irresponsible, lovable Peer from the fjords of Norway to the desserts of Africa in search of complete fulfillment. By choosing to live a life of waste, he ultimately finds himself in a world of lost opportunities. The play also features music by Elizabeth Swados.
There is no matinee on Saturday, November 2, and no performance on Tuesday, November 5.
