About This Show

Onionheads is a play of loss, uncertainty, and coming of age. It follows four young onion farmers, Jeb, Aloysius, Penny, and Clementine, driven from their land by the Oklahoma dust bowl of the 1930’s. It is a story that recalls a forgotten past. In the face of ruined crops and without guidance from their parents these youths decide to move west with hopes of finding a better life. Jeb fights to keep his family together in spite of losing his parents, his farm, and his true love. Aloysius talks to his dead crops, his dead mother, and his dead dog hoping to revive them. Clementine pursues and loves Aloysius believing that love will free her from the poverty around her. And Penny sells her twenty year old body to feed herself and her starving sister. Directed by Frank Wildermann.
