About This Show

Obama Drama: A Political Theatrical Spectacular!, a weekend of seven world premiere short plays inspired by the Senator from Illinois. The three-day political, theatrical spectacular will feature plays written by Nastaran Ahmadi, Zakiyyah Alexander, Sarita Covington, Kimberly Megna, Harrison David Rivers, Matt Schatz, and Tiffany Rachelle Stewart.

Creative Destruction commissioned seven playwrights to respond to Barack Obama directly to dramatize what most inspired them about the man and his historic Presidential nomination. The resulting plays are both diverse and electrifying. A sampling of the Obama Drama entertainments include: Nastaran Ahmadi’s Politico Mayhem, a zany comedy about an Obama supporter who locks herself underground to transmit a podcast of Obama Hope to Hopeless Liberals. Matt Schatz’s Pinning Hope is a domestic, indie-folk musical about Barack, Michelle, and their search for that elusive American flag pin. Writer/performer Sarita Covington delivers Back Alley Blindness: An Ode to Michelle a spoken word performance piece about the dire importance of Michelle Obama and this election to the future of all Americans. Plays by Zakiyyah Alexander, Kimberly.
