As part of the Manhattantheatresource FlopNight Development Series, Hold-Up Productions presents Nice Job!. In a series of six one-acts, Nice Job! dissects the various roles of women in the workforce.
The first one-act in the series, “Red Smiley Faces”, takes place entirely in an office conference room. Over a brown-bag lunch, two women try to understand their roles in an office, while wondering if their idealism is dead. The second one-act, “Work Through It Girl”, also occurs over the lunch hour as two female receptionists discuss their day and the different effect their respective jobs are having on them. As two attorneys have lunch, the one-act “Issues” shows one of the lunching attorneys on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The fourth one-act, “Sent”, addresses the risks of deranged e-mailing. The fifth one-act, “Dictation”, addresses the risks of a dictatorial boss. The last one-act, “Voice-Females”, addresses the risks of firing employees, especially when those fired employees decide to get drunk in their former office.
