About This Show

Family secrets, jealousy, and inner fears arise as three generations of Black women artists have their lives turned upside down by Alzheimer’s disease. The family bond is tested as Grace, the matriarch of the family and former prodigy, struggles with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and her lost dream of success. The rejected daughter, Deborah, a writer nearly broken by her demanding mother, fights to regain her artistic spirit and care for Grace while searching for remnants of a father she never knew. The talented Caroline, a high school student, wants only to “fit in” and rebels against the isolated life of an artist with its many sacrifices. Is the love within this family strong enough to survive the conflicts and truth uncovered by Grace’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease? Gloria Browne’s My Juilliard is a story about artistic talent, family secrets, and Alzheimer’s disease told with uncompromising compassion and honesty.
