Classical Theater of Harlem presents Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children, directed by Christopher McElroen.
Bertolt Brecht is universally recognized as one of the most important stage
innovators in history and a giant of 20th century drama. In this play, he takes on the endless and self-perpetuating cycle of war and profit. In a series of
twelve epic scenes played over the devastation of the 30-years war, Mother
Courage profits from the war mercilessly, but pragmatically. Christopher
McElroen’s staging will make use of costumes and weaponry from multiple
eras to create a sense of the timelessness of war, and the show will be
performed in the energetic style that is becoming a signature of CTH
productions.
