About This Show

Award-winning all-female comedy quartet MEAT serves up its unique brand of sketch comedy for a six week run at Ace of Clubs. Doors for each show open at 7:00 PM, with half-price drinks from 7:00-7:30 pm.

MEAT performs a rotating set of over 200 sketches, featuring everything from Children-of-the-Damned English youngsters run amok (their sister Melanie had a problem with sharing. Then she had an “accident”) to predatory robot lovemaking. Characters that recur through many sketches include Cynthia Falconcrest, resident film critic (her scatological reviews of films like “Daddy Day Care” and “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days” are virtually unprintable in any publication), as well as “Dr. Jan Rosenthal: Deaf Gynecologist.”

MEAT is composed of four women:
– Elizabeth Ellis, a freelance writer and performer for the National Lampoon Radio Show and a fight choreographer for Renaissance Festivals (and a blue belt in karate who enjoys smashing wood with seven different parts of her body);
– Reggan Holland, also the artistic director of the Floodgates Theatre Company and the recipient of the 2001 Spotlight Award for Best Actress;
– Becky Poole, who also plays the musical saw in the comedy/music duo Becky & Noelle;
– Livia Scott, a veteran of numerous sketch comedy groups, independent films, and off-Broadway projects.

“Some sketch comedy performers are fine actresses; some are terrific mimics; some can write directly to the gag as well as underneath it. MEAT is all over all of it.”- Chicago Tribune

“Tasty & nutritious comedy.”- Village Voice

“the wit, flair and sass that would make ‘SNL’ envious” – Chicago Tribune

“fresh, juicy and brilliant” – The Oregonian
