About This Show

Mamillius is a reconstruction of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, adapted and directed by Sheldon Deckelbaum. In this bold, inventive reconstruction, Shakespeare’s verse is illuminated through the pre-pubescent lens of the young prince, Mamillius, who dies in Act III of the original play. Bringing together the imaginative powers of seven actors, using original music and choreography, it tells a story of sexual fantasy, consuming jealousy, irrational violence, terrifying loss, but ultimately celebration and promise. Only through the mystery of art and a child’s desperate wish to restore the union of his parents can this “winter’s tale” find grace and redemption.
