“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more.”
A vivid new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic tale of murder, madness and the fight for the Scottish crown, Macbeth: A Walking Shadow opens on the battleground with the defining fight between MacBeth and MacDuff, then unfolds as a series of flashbacks. MacBeth remains onstage throughout the entire play, observing what has led him to this end. Macbeth: A Walking Shadow captures the rush of one man’s life and the fleeting decisions he has made, ultimately asking the question: “How did I wind up here?”
Written by Doug Scott and Andrew Frank, whose work has been called “richly visual and cleverly theatrical” (BackStage) and “bewitching as ever” (The New York Times), Macbeth: A Walking Shadow stars Ato Essandoh (Mother Courage & Her Children, Film: Blood Diamond) in the title role.
