OnTheRoad Repertory Company, Artistic Director, Alice Spivak, presents its inaugural production: Lone Star, by James McLure. Brothers Roy and Ray spend a Friday night getting drunk in the back of Angel’s, their small town Texas bar. As the evening progresses, Roy confronts his deep seeded bitterness and depression brought on by his stint in the Vietnam War and a longing for the good old days of his youth. All the while, Ray struggles to keep his brother from coming undone. An appearance by childhood friend Cletis, and the confession of a long-held secret by Ray, complicates matters. By the play’s climax, Roy is at the brink and it is all that Ray can do to keep his brother from going over the edge. Live country music, performed by singer-songwriter TK Durham, is added to the evening and woven into the play itself.
