Laundry and Bourbon / Lone Star
$15.00
In Laundry and Bourbon Elizabeth and Hattie sit on the porch folding laundry, sipping drinks, and gossiping. They’re soon joined by the self-righteous Amy Lee, who can’t resist blurting out a bombshell: Elizabeth’s husband, Roy, has been seen around town with another woman. In Lone Star we meet Roy, who’s back from Vietnam and anxious to begin his life again. As he drunkenly recounts his military exploits, his younger brother Ray confesses a shocking secret that makes Roy question his entire life.
Together, these one-act plays by James McClure paint a hilarious portrait of the goings-on in the dusty one-horse town of Maynard, Texas near the end of the Vietnam War. Janice Goldberg directs.
