Celebrating the 101st birthday of one of the great founders of butoh, Kazuo Ohno, this series features the legendary pioneers of the butoh movement, including Ohno’s son, Yoshito Ohno; MacArthur “Genius” grantees Eiko & Koma; a world premiere performance by Akira Kasai and U.S.-based dancers; and Akaji Maro and his company Kochuten. These masters of butoh perform back-to-back with young, emerging butoh practitioners based in the U.S.
