About This Show

Take a trip to the Bronx, circa 1969, when the junkies, the wise guys, the hippies, the hoodlums, and the war veterans all hung out on the same street. Seen through the eyes of Joey (an Italian-American teenager growing up in a working-class household headed by his WWII Marine veteran father, Carmine) Johnny Lanzillotto’s Bless Them All is about how war and addiction affect family life, and how, through compassion and perseverance, one can find his way to freedom. The performance is accompanied by legendary East Village filmmaker Tessa Hughes-Freeland’s slides and film. Peter Appel directs, with musical direction by Dr. John.
