About the Show

Written in 1945, Home of the Brave was the first step in the long and illustrious career of Arthur Laurents. The play brings the Pearl full circle in the series, by examining with great empathy and authority the toll of war on the individual soldier. Its view of the dignity of its soldiers is very different, though, from Mr. Dunlap’s in André, some 150 years earlier, but Mr. Laurents and Home of the Brave offer an affecting and insightful look at the costs and agents of America at war.

Part of the Pearl Theatre’s summer event, America: The Reading Series.
