About This Show

New World Theatre begins its second season with HAMLET: EVOLUTION featuring Hamlet 1603: The First Quarto by William Shakespeare and the newly-commissioned modern adaptation Priscilla by New York Playwright Jeff Love.

HAMLET: EVOLUTION was developed with the aim to highlight the evolution of Shakespeare’s renowned play from its origins to its relevant implications today.

This is a rare opportunity to see the first publication of Shakespeare’s quintessential revenge play. Presented uncut, Hamlet 1603: The First Quarto is shorter and leaner and in many ways a "different play." Experience this famous classic in a new way — see if you can find the differences! The small ensemble cast tackles the bard’s greatest work with aplomb playing a multitude of characters.

Hamlet returns from University to discover that his father is dead and his uncle has married his mother. Visited by the ghost of his father, Hamlet schemes to wrest the truth from his murderous uncle and avenge his father’s death.
