About This Show

Written by Sabura Rashid, Greener Grasses is a serious comedy that takes place simultaneously during the early 19th Century on Green Grass Plantation, and during the 21st Century in a public school, a housing project, and on a street corner of New York City. Characters from both worlds discover courage and deceit as the chaos of 19th Century chattel slavery collides with 21st century attitudes.

“A very provocative play, Greener Grasses evokes both tears and laughter… [it’s] one play you’ll never forget!”

Here’s what Danny Simmons (Def Jam/Rush Arts Gallery) had to say about Greener Grasses…

” . . . I had a really good time . . . I really enjoyed the production; it was first class. The actors were excellent and the writing was phenomenal . . . It’s got to go further. It needs to be at [The] Public [Theatre] and then it needs to be on Broadway . . . You have to come out and see this play. If you got dollars for the theater, this is what to go see.”

Due to strong language and adult situations, Greener Grasses is recommended for mature audiences.
