About the Show

The Waterloo Bridge Theatre Company presents its return to the excitement and immediacy of Story Theatre with its production of Ghosts, Giants, and Gales; Three Oscar Wilde short stories adapted for the stage and directed by Paul Campbell.

The stories chosen for this production {“The Selfish Giant”, “The Nightingale and the Rose”, and “The Canterville Ghost”} are beautifully written tales of love, self sacrifice, and forgiveness. These stories are presented in a Story Theatre format; a theatrical form created by Paul Sills. As no props are used, the audience is in a position to create all objects in their heads, just as though they were reading off the printed page. There were some changes that had to be made to bring the stories to the stage, but these only involved editing and a few characters changing gender. There is nothing added, and the words all belong to Wilde.
