Cynthia Adler takes on the media establishment in her one woman, nine character “stand-up theater” piece Downloaded – and in Denial. In a case of life imitating life, nine wildly disparate characters create a delicious satire on contemporary values, youth and beauty, the judicial system, kids, shrinks, media manipulation, and much more. These are folks just trying to survive in the day-to-day onslaught of information overload and the spin of advertising and media that promises endless possibilities of money, instant fame and some reasonable peace of mind. As one of Americas most prolific and sought after voice-over and narration artists for companies such as Revlon, HBO, PBS, Lifetime, Swanson, Ester Lauder, and Delta, Ms. Adler has also given voice to numerous Hanna Barbera cartoon characters as well as to Jim Henson’s Muppets. She has performed in theater and film here and abroad, even playing Mae West to Peter Riegert’s, Groucho Marx for Children’s Television Workshop. An acclaimed cabaret artist, Adler developed many of the characters that people Downloaded – and in Denial in the course of her many club engagements.
