Originally written as a chamber opera for a girls’ school in baroque England, Purcell’s opera tells the tragic story of the Queen of Carthage, and contains one of the most haunting arias ever written. Prospect’s production of Dido (& Aeneas) integrates new texts and modernizes the musical vocabulary of Dido, giving a new voice to the journey of this tragic heroine.
There are additional performances on Monday, February 10 and Wednesday, February 26 at 8:00pm.
