About This Show

James McGuire’s new comedy makes its premiere at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival. Critically acclaimed film and theater director Peter Masterson (Best Little Whorehouse, The Trip to
Bountiful) will co-direct with Janet Bogardus. Anthony Caputo and Joyce Boll will produce.

Daddy Kathryn, an autobiographical play, begins when Mark decides to come out of the closet to his family on Christmas Eve. Just when Mark works up the nerve to tell everyone that he’s gay, his father, Charlie, steals his moment when he announces that he himself is a transvestite. With the FBI pursuing Charlie due to bad business practices at his construction company, he averts prosecution and comes out on the front page of the newspaper as a woman, runs for Mayor and becomes a major force in Houston’s social set.
