About This Show

The rural South, early 1900s – At a time when the lynching of black men is an accepted and widespread form of racial oppression, a Chicago reporter heads south to interview a Kleagle, a recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan. The reporter, a black man who can pass for white, aims to change American public opinion, which has tolerated and even supported the Klan. But first he must succeed in his deception – and survive. Conversation With A Kleagle is based on the true story of Walter White, a newspaper reporter who went on to head the NAACP.

The WorkShop Theater Company will hold a special Talkback following the August 7th performance. Leading the discussion will be Rev. Nelson B. Rivers, III, the Chief Operating Officer of the NAACP.
