About This Show

In this evening’s two companion pieces under the title Choking on Happiness, three women decide to get off their backs and haul out their domestic trash. In Annie Marks’s The Best It’s Ever Looked, the wife in a picture perfect couple grows tired of posing for her husband, who incessantly photographs their marriage. Realizing that, in fact, the camera does lie, she begins to wonder if she’s been framed. Homesick, by Victoria Janis, is set in a seedy karaoke bar on the Spanish coastline, where a dejected New Jersey hotel guest seeks comfort from a hard-boiled Romanian maid. Their duet reaches a fevered pitch as the women realize they’re both wrestling with the burden of motherly love.
