The Latino Experimental Fantastic Theatre presents the internationally acclaimed fantastic realism comedy Cheeks, written and directed by Guillermo Gentile, who has won awards in his native Argentina, as well as in Spain and Sweden.
Cheeks is about John, a disabled child who grows up in a basement, isolated from the world and under the over protecting care of his Daddy who is everything to him. Due to his physical impediments, John can’t kiss or shake hands, so he expresses his feelings of love and affection by “puffing cheeks.”
Daddy provides and fulfills his son’s every need, but there is something he can’t provide – a friend. The drama ignites when John’s desire to have a friend leads him to leave his basement world for the first time. John meets Martin, a paranoid dreamer who has just escaped from an insane asylum, and brings him into his world.
