Cannibals is the story of a family’s insistence on the myth of happiness. The cheer is stifling. Much tea is made, much whisky swallowed, many songs are sung but a buried past won’t disappear. Anna Livia threatens to explode the secret the rest of the family desperately tries to forget. Ultimately, they must choose between confronting horror or continuing their dance of denial…to the perky strains of 1930’s jazz. Nerve Theater, in association with Access Theater, presents the New York premiere of this play by Lesley Scammell. Alyse Rothman directs.
