About This Show

Translated & adapted by Peter Hilton, Camilla: Vergil’s Warrior Princess is the 2000-year-old story of Vergil’s unique warrior woman, his so-called Amazon, who deserts her divine protector, Diana, goddess of the hunt, to battle against the Trojan invasion of Italy. This tragic tale of the young Queen Camilla is drawn from books 7 & 11 of Vergil’s great masterpiece, The Aeneid, and in the tradition of epic poetry, is narrated by a single voice with all the fire and beauty of some of his most dramatic and tender writing.

Appropriate for audiences 8 and up.

Part of the Women-at-Arms Festival.

The Friday October 24 performance will be preceded by a 7:15pm pre-show talk by Prof. Katharina Volk of Columbia’s Classics Dept.
